Appearance traditions, habits and self-observation
Read historical observation traditions critically. Here the emphasis is noticing your own expression, pace, posture and habits, not inferring another person's character from their appearance.
Ask yourself: Am I observing to reflect on myself, or to judge someone else too quickly?
What you will explore
Boundaries
Never determine worth, morality, ability or destiny from appearance. No discriminatory labels.
When to stop
Stop when observation creates appearance-based discrimination, harms relationships or reinforces persistent self-denigration.
Common misuse: Using appearance to label worth or morality, discriminate, shame or frighten people.

Appearance-based labels
Are you assigning worth, morality, ability or destiny from physical features?
Stop judging the person; reflect on your own assumptions.
Insufficient evidence
Is a conclusion based only on a photograph, isolated features or hearsay?
Do not infer character from appearance. Consider behaviour, context and the person's own account.
