Women's Charts
Someone asks what benefits a woman. Benefit lies in Husband Star: if the husband prospers, the woman must prosper; if he is distressed, she must be distressed. In the source's system a woman follows her husband. First inspect Husband Star to determine the rank of her origins, then Child Star for late-life honor or disgrace. Office, Killing, and Wealth obtaining ground benefit husband; Food Spirit obtaining ground benefits child. Husband's benefit gives wealthy, noble origins and lifelong blessing; child's benefit gives ample late-life support and honored imperial titles. Some also strengthen the husband because Food generates Wealth and Wealth generates Office; the reverse does not. A woman's chart takes what conquers me as husband and what I generate as child, both needing timely Birth and Flourishing. If flourishing energy gathers only in the hour, it can also be used. Using Office as husband should not see Killing; using Killing should not see Office. One occurrence is good. Two Offices without Killing mixing, or pure Killing throughout without Office mixing, both make a good woman in the author's judgment. One's own flourishing is finer still, but not excessive. Food represents children. Leading it to flourishing in the hour, with Two Virtues assisting Body, gives noble husband and honored children. Excessive Body flourishing, repeated hidden Husband Spirits, Hurting Office, Seven Killings and Chief Strength punishing one another, excessive Sheep Blade, and many affectionate combinations are unfavorable. Annual and major fortunes are the same. Eight methods and eight configurations require careful examination.

Pure means single: one pure Office Star or Killing Star, with Wealth and Seal, without punishment, clash, or mixing. The example is Gui with the supplied Yi-shaped branch, Wuwu, Xinyou, Bingshen. Oneself has Exclusive Emolument, flourishing without following transformation. Xin uses Bing Office as Husband Star; fifth-month flourishing Fire makes husband healthy. Bing uses Gui as Office, seated on Nobility, and sees Wu as Food, both returning to Emolument at Si. Xin Metal generates Gui Water as child, led into Shen hour's Long Life ground. The stems Gui, Wu, Xin, and Bing form Water and Fire Achieving Mutual Completion; branches Si, Wu, You, and Shen arch and flank Wealth's Storehouse. Hence marrying an official and eating Heaven's Emolument, with honored husband and noble child.

Harmony means tranquility. Soft, weak Body with only one Husband Star, no clashing, breaking, or attacking spirits, receives balanced energy and is harmonious. Renchen, Xinhai, Jimao, Jisi has Ji using Jia as husband. Hai is Jia's growing ground, obtaining Heaven's time and Earth's benefit. Jia takes Xin as Office; Metal is Born at Si. A subsequent Yi-shaped graph takes Metal as child, also Born at Si. This is Husband Proceeding through Office Star and Child Obtaining Long Life, hence benefiting husband and strengthening child. Although Mao beneath one's own seat is Killing, Geng within Si restrains it, judged as Removing Killing and Retaining Office: nobility in a woman's chart.

Clear means clean. A woman's chart with one Office or one Killing, not mixed together, is clear. Husband Star must obtain its season, Wealth generate Office, Seal assist Body, and no turbid energy remain before it is pure nobility. The example is the supplied Yi-shaped stem with Wei, Renshen, Yiwei, Jiashen. Yi takes Geng as husband, whose Emolument arrives at Shen; Ding as child, flourishing at Wei; Ren as Seal, Born at Shen. The seated branch is also Yi Wood's Wealth, which flourishes and can generate Office. No punishment, clash, disruption, or Defeat appears in the four pillars. A classic says: “Wealth, Office, and Seal and Ribbon: a woman's chart meeting these must strengthen husband.” Thus it is a titled lady's chart.

Noble names honor and glory. Office Star receiving Wealth energy's assistance, Three Wonders obtaining their source, and no planted Ghost illness in the four pillars make, in the author's analogy, a Yao or Shun among women's charts. A classic says: “A woman without Killing can have one Noble make a good spouse.” Another: “A woman's chart without Killing and meeting Two Virtues can receive titles of two states.” Heavenly Virtue here is not only Heavenly and Monthly Virtue: Wealth is one virtue and Office another; Seal and Food added increase nobility. Yihai, Bingxu, Xinmao, Guisi has Xin using Yi as Wealth, flourishing at Hai. Bing is Husband Star, seated on Storehouse and returning to Emolument at Si Earth. Gui is husband's Office; Xin generating Gui makes child, seated at the supplied Yi-shaped Earth position, sharing husband's Emolument, also Noble Spirit and the Twofold Beauty of Wealth and Office. Thus husband and child both noble bring two honored titles.

Turbid means mixed: phases lose position, Water and Earth injure one another, Body is too flourishing, proper Husband is not manifest and secondary Husband influences mix abundantly. Many divisions in the pillars without Wealth, Office, Seal, or Food give the source's low-status, rustic, turbid categories, or prostitute, maid, concubine, and sexually cunning person. Jihai, Yihai, Guichou, Jiwei has Gui Water born in the tenth month greatly overflowing. Gui takes Wu as husband, not manifest, while hour Jiwei leads to secondary husband. Chou and Wei Earth mixing is disliked. No Wealth in the pillars, flourishing Yi Wood Food stem, Ji Earth conquered, Ghost Defeat arriving at Body and phases misplaced give clarity first, turbidity later, unable to enjoy blessing.

Indiscriminate is glossed as greedy. Many visible husbands, hidden flourishing Wealth, and stems and branches carrying much Killing mean obtaining secret Wealth through wine and sex in the source's account. Such charts may be servants or injure husband and remarry. The supplied sequence is Gengyin, Bingxu, Gengshen, Dinghai, followed again by Gengshen. Gengshen is Eight Exclusive flourishing on its own. Bing Fire is husband, Yin and Xu gather a configuration with the hour stem, and Ding adds affection for Fire. Gengshen Metal secretly conquers Yin and Hai Wood as Wealth; Ren Water within Hai is Food generating Wealth. Though beautiful and blessed, the person is said inevitably to obtain Wealth indiscriminately.

Prostitute means courtesan in this classification. Flourishing Body with Extinct husband, declining Office and abundant Food, no Office or Killing in the pillars, present Office completely injured, or mixed Office/Killing with flourishing Food must, in the author's judgment, indicate prostitution; otherwise a religious nun, maid, or concubine, husband injury and sexual elopement. Dinghai, Gengxu, Wuchen, Gengshen has Wu taking Jia as husband, out of season and without energy in the ninth month, further conquered into Extinction by Geng. Leading to Shen hour makes Geng Food, with Established Emolument at Shen. Wuchen Chief Strength generating Shen is too flourishing. Ren Wealth within Hai also flourishes: Flourishing Body Meeting Generation, craving Food and Wealth, husband Extinct, hence the source's refined, attractive prostitute category.

Sexual excess is glossed as moist abundance. Oneself obtains ground and Husband Stars visible and hidden gather together: day stem flourishes on its own and the pillars are all Office and Killing. Stems are visible, branches hidden. Excess, such as one Ding seeing three Ren and many Chen and Zi, is Gathering Together, accepting everyone in the source's claim. Wuchen, Renchen, Renxu, Guihai has Renchen and Guihai inherently obtaining ground, Wu Earth visibly as proper husband and Chen and Xu hidden as secondary husbands. Gengxu, Wuzi, Yiyou, Jiashen has Yi taking Geng as visible husband, but seated on You and further led to Shen hour as hidden husband, with western flourishing-Metal fortune. Both charts gather visible and hidden Husband Stars and are described as unspeakably sexually excessive.

Strengthening Husband and Injuring Child
Why do some women's charts strengthen husband but injure child? Infer this through the hour, the place of final return. Lead Husband and Child Stars into it: Husband at Birth/Flourishing, Child at Decline/Defeat. Bingxu, Bingshen, Dingsi, Xinhai has Ding seated on Si, flourishing on its own, using Ren Water as husband. The hour is husband's Assuming Office ground; monthly Shen Metal husband's Long Life. Xin Metal is Wealth, flourishing in the seventh month. Two Bing stand equally, both seated on husband's Wealth and Seal, hence an intelligent, refined, wealthy, noble husband. Ding takes Wu as the children's domain, led to Hai in the hour. Jia Wood within Hai conquers Wu Earth: Child Star is conquered and children difficult to obtain. Thus strengthening husband and injuring child. Infer other cases similarly.

Strengthening Child and Injuring Husband
Why do some strengthen child and injure husband? Infer this particularly through month and hour. What conquers me is Office and husband: energized and timely, it gives husband blessing. Misplaced stems/branches, no monthly energy, further clash or conquest and no flourishing hour energy weaken him. Yet the child I generate, led to hour Long Life, Assuming Office, or Imperial Flourishing without punishment or conquest, is strong: this is Strengthening Child and Injuring Husband. Jimao, Jiaxu, Yimao, Wuyin has Yi using Geng as husband, energy-less in ninth-month Metal. Yi uses Bing as child, whose Fire has Long Life at Yin and gathers with Xu into Fire. Monthly command lacks Metal energy, the hour leads Metal to Extinction, and Fire further conquers it. Thus Husband Star is injured and children strong. Infer others similarly.

This occurs when Husband Star's stems and branches lose position, birth month loses season, pillars further clash and conquer, and the hour branch neither generates nor assists. Repeated Seal steals husband's energy and severely conquers child; neither flourishes and both instead become Extinct in the hour. Bingzi, Gengzi, Yihai, Bingzi has Yi Wood using Geng Metal as husband. Eleventh-month Metal is cold and Water chilly; Metal is Dead at Zi, and Hai/Zi Water steals its energy completely. An awkward clause says no Earth generates and assists, with Hurting Office and much Wood, hence husband injury. Yi takes Bing Fire as child, led to Zi hour where Water flourishes and Fire is extinguished. Two Fires in year/hour stems are conquered by the many Waters; husband and child both perish, hence the name. Infer others similarly.

This means energized Husband Star and a day stem flourishing on its own, balanced without conquest, no punishment or clash, and Wealth and Food properly placed. Guisi, Gengshen, Yimao, Dinghai has Yi seated on Mao, Exclusive Emolument flourishing on its own, with Hai hour further combining a configuration: oneself flourishes. Geng Metal is husband. In the seventh month Geng Emolument obtains Shen, and annual Si Fire is Metal's Long Life ground: Husband Star flourishes. Ren Water within Hai is husband's Food Spirit and Heavenly Kitchen, hence husband eats Heaven's Emolument. Oneself and Husband Star do not injure one another, each riding flourishing energy without mixing or invasion, so husband and wife harmonize: Quietly Keeping One's Allotted Position.

Unexpected Early Death in Youth
Unexpected early death is transformation's exhaustion and a configuration's abnormal change. Why hanging, drowning, death young through blood or childbirth, or killing by others? Weak Body encountering heavy, repeated Killing's conquest with punishment, clash, disruption, or Defeat; original Office injured and fortune again in Office territory; no Office but Hurting followed by Office fortune; or unrestrained Blade with fortune combining Blade, Death Spirit, Robbery Killing and similar influences all belong here. This applies to men's as well as women's charts. Dingmao, Guichou, Gengchen, Bingzi has Geng using Ding as Office, repeatedly injured by Gui Water and Zi/Chen Hurting Office. Conquest is too heavy, much Water sinking Metal. On entering Dingsi fortune, Hurting Office sees Office and Bing Killing further conquers Body, hence drowning harm.

Blessing and Longevity Both Complete
This means balanced transformation and a pure configuration, enjoying lifelong provision and enduring freedom from aging. Why? Body seated on flourishing territory connects with monthly energy; stems and branches assist one another, Wealth, Office, and Seal each obtain position; fortune does not strip Wealth, ruin Seal, or injure Office. Food Spirit and Heavenly Kitchen are especially favored. Flourishing Body with Wealth and Food fortune belongs to Blessing and Longevity Both Complete. Bingwu, Gengzi, Xinyou, Guisi has Xin seated on You, Exclusive Emolument flourishing on its own. Hour Gui returns to Emolument at Zi as Food Spirit: Longevity and Child Stars obtain ground. Xin uses Bing Fire as Office; Bing Emolument returns to Si, giving Husband Star ground. Eleventh-month birth forms White Metal and Clear Water, with stems and branches above and below assisting and none damaged. Body does not follow transformation. Thus the person is described as beautiful and upright, husband and child balanced, blessing and longevity both complete. Infer others similarly.

Taking Principal or Secondary Marital Position
What is taking one's principal or secondary position? Husband and wife combine, then Equal appears to contend: one Husband Star combining with two Wife Stars is Contending Combination. If oneself flourishes and the other declines, with no clash in the four pillars, I am principal and she secondary. My Birth/Flourishing energy makes husband follow me as principal; if I decline while another position flourishes, husband follows that other and I become secondary. Her flourishing has contended away my husband, leaving only secondary position. Excessively flourishing self with no Husband Star, mixed Office/Killing, or heavy Hurting Office also gives secondary position and further the source's sexual-excess labels. Renzi, Bingwu, Xinyou, Xinmao has Xin using Bing as husband. I sit on You, Exclusive Emolument flourishing, while hour Xinmao Metal is powerless; I am principal and she secondary. Two women contend for husband and take respective positions. Guiwei, Renxu, Guisi, Renzi has Gui using Earth as husband. Guisi Water is weak, Renzi Water strong; weakness cannot overcome strength. Unsettled Marriage and Attraction
This means Husband Star in the monthly command, printed with a damaged eye graph, emerging to combine oneself, to whom oneself submits. Yet that Husband Star lacks energy, while the hour leads Husband or Killing Star to flourishing ground, seeking to conquer oneself; submitting again makes a husband, hence unsettled marriage and attraction. Husband Star not flourishing or restrained means late marriage, unclear marriage, ineffective husband, or outside attachment. Guiyou, Jiazi, Jiwei, Yihai has Ji taking Jia as husband, out of season and not flourishing in the eleventh month. Hour Hai is Jia Wood's Long Life, so husband flourishes, yet does not combine. Yi Wood further restrains Jiwei, Wei being Yi's Storehouse. Jia born in Zi month has husband seated on Defeat and unmanifest. General Discussion of Yin Charts
A discussion says: when examining yin charts, first infer husband's and child's rise and decline. To investigate honor and withering, next distinguish day and hour's weight. Office is husband, Wealth father: flourishing Wealth honors husband. Food is child, Seal mother: abundant Seal declines child. Day stem should not flourish excessively; monthly energy must receive balance. Vigorous, flourishing Day Ruler seizes husband's authority and becomes solitary; monthly Rest/Imprisonment keeps its allotted place and manages household. Office Star obtaining ground gives husband glory; Hurting Office without conquest gives child distinction. Office must not see Killing, Killing must not meet Office: how could mixed Office/Killing give auspiciousness? Office uninjured with Two Virtues receives titles of two states; Seven Killings restrained with Three Wonders gives first-rank nobility. Praise Food restraining Killing and generating Wealth; dislike Hurting Office conquering husband and stealing energy. Greed for Wealth ruining Seal cannot make a good spouse. Using Killing and meeting Office is called unchaste. Solitary poverty and low status arise from Child at Death, Rest, or Imprisonment; eminent wealth and rank from flourishing husband and child. Own flourishing gives skill in women's work, declining day clumsiness at needlework. One Noble Spirit gives wealth or glory; many Combining Spirits make a nun or courtesan. Noble Person riding Post Horse must be a beautiful courtesan in the dusty world; Office Star with Peach Blossom a respectable wife in a secluded courtyard. Single Food is peaceful, with children and longevity; repeated combined Nobility charming, lowly, and affectionate. Inverted Peach Blossom is unsuitable; Bathing most avoids Naked Form. Those infringing become attendant maids or religious nuns. Four Middle Positions complete give a woman of excessive wine and sex; Four First Positions complete an intelligent, developing person. Wei/Chou punishment is not avoided; Xu/Chen clash is unfavorable. Generally Husband Star must be healthy and flourishing, oneself balanced. Food must not be punished or injured; Child Star needs Birth ground. One Seal generating Body is acceptable; many Wealth Spirits developing blessing do no harm. Killing transforming Seal makes a pure configuration; Two Virtues assisting Body give incomparable nobility. Three Wonders combining truly transform; Arching Emolument and Nobility need not be feared. Mixed Killing/Office unrestrained makes a woman unsuitable to marry. Heavy Hurting seeing Office and greed for Wealth breaking Seal are both unacceptable. Repeated Equal gives contention and jealousy; Wealth/Office meeting Robbing cannot give riches. Much Wealth and weak Body are the same; Sheep Blade clashing and punishing leaves the body incomplete. Metal Spirit with Blade is harmful; Peach Blossom combining sexually disordered. No Office but combinations, or many Office combinations, and Inverted Peach Blossom disorder the inner chambers. Flourishing Body unsupported injures husband and child and is greatly inauspicious. Repeated Reversed Food reduces blessing; Widowed Lodge brings solitary sleeping. Solitary Luan, Red Beauty, and Yin-Yang Error are all unfavorable spirits. Yet a noble chart combining Office and Seal is not afflicted by minor spirits.” Another says: “Choose a wife who is calm; hear the details. Husband Star should be healthy, day stem gentle and yielding. Two Virtues seated on Direct Wealth naturally bring riches and rank. Four pillars carrying Rest/Imprisonment increase reputation and longevity. One proper Noble Person; two or three bring cherished betrothal. Metal and Water meeting must attract beautiful appearance. Four Nobles and one Killing give a powerful family's wealth and rank. Wealth/Office hidden in Storehouse become rich when clashed open. Yin, Shen, Si, and Hai complete give solitude, sexual excess, and a protruding belly. Zi, Wu, Mao, and You assure following others away. Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei greatly offend the source's wifely way. Chen fears Xu; their meeting mostly gives sexual disorder and ruin. With Killing, combination is not feared; without Killing, it is. Many Combining Spirits give courtesan or singer. Sheep Blade with Hurting Office makes mixed and troublesome affairs. A chart full of Seal must injure children. One repeated Heavenly Stem gives solitude, ruin, and continual calamity. One repeated Earthly Branch spells two marriages.
